October 19th – 20th


The Division of Student Affairs and the Parent & Family Association are proud to present: Family Weekend 2012! Visit the Registration Table in the Brower Student Center upon your arrival for scheduling updates and to pick up pre-ordered Barbecue wristbands. All parents and family members are welcome to attend all or parts of our two-day jam-packed program that coincides and culminates with our Homecoming football game!

The College looks forward to your visit to campus and we hope you will have a wonderful experience here with your student!

Friday, October 19

  • Family Weekend Registration

1:00pm -6:00pm. Brower Student Center (BSC)  Atrium. Pick up your pre-ordered Barbecue wristbands and Family Weekend schedule. (Bring receipt or confirmation email.)

  • College Bookstore Open

9:00am-5:00pm.  BSC. You can never have too much TCNJ apparel and gifts!

  • Back to School Days

Visit your student’s Friday classes. Meet their faculty. (Consult his/her schedule and suggest they reach out to the faculty member(s) for the course(s) you wish to attend).

  • School Open Houses

2:00pm-3:00pm. Join the Deans for conversation and snacks.

  • First Year Experience (FYE) Reception

5:00pm-6:00pm Allen Drawing Room. Learn what’s been happening since you moved your student in in August. Meet their new friends and sneak away to see their residence hall. Snacks and beverages will be served. Hosted by the FYE Staff.

    • Sibling Sleepover Drop-Off

6:00pm-7:00pm. Building TCNJ sibling resides. TCNJ students host their younger siblings for an evening of bonding and fun. Younger siblings register at the security desk at 8pm or later. Register online.(pre-registration required)

  • Carnival Extravaganza

6:00pm-8:00pm. T/W Main Lounge. Carnival games, candy apple making, popcorn, face painting, balloon animals prizes and much, much more will be available for TCNJ students and their younger siblings.

  • Family Shabbat Service & Oneg

6:00pm. Spiritual Center. Celebrate a Family Shabbat Service; stay after for Oneg. Offered by JSU/Hillel.

  • Lip Sync & Dance Contest

9:00pm-11:00pm. Recreation Center. Bring your earplugs and take part in everyone’s favorite Homecoming Spirit Week tradition. (Cost: $5 at the door.)

  • Family Bingo

8:00pm-10:00pm. Lion’s Den (Foodcourt). Missing family game night? Join us for Family Bingo. Snacks and prizes provided. Sponsored by ? and Lion Late Night.


Saturday, October 20, 2012

  • Family Weekend Registration

9:00am-1:00pm. Brower Student Center (BSC) Atrium. Pick up your pre-ordered Barbecue wristbands and Family Weekend schedule. Bring receipt or confirmation email.

  • College Bookstore Open

9:00am-5:00pm.  BSC. You can never have too much TCNJ apparel and gifts!

  • Lions’ Cook-Off Competition Drop-Off

10:30am-12:30pm. 201A BSC. Drop off your favorite dish (appetizer, side dish, or dessert). Please mark any entry containing nuts. (Prizes awarded at 1:30pm.) Register online. Sponsored by Student Government.

  • Parent-to-Parent Panel

11:00am-12:00pm. 210 BSC. Parents of upper-class students share their experiences and advice. Refreshments will be served.

  • Drop Dead Sexy Concert

11:00am-1:30pm. Sundial Lawn. This great band covers hits from the ‘70’s to the ‘90’s. Music you’ll love!

  • Student Performance Showcase

11:00am-1:00pm. BSC Atrium. Be entertained by TCNJ’s talented student musical groups!

  • Children’s Crafts & Activities.

11:00am-1:00pm. Green Lawn. Little lions will enjoy creating projects offered by TCNJ clubs and organizations.

  • Men’s SoccerNJ City Gothic Knights vs. TCNJ Lions

11:00am. Soccer Complex.

  • Family & Friends Barbecue

12-2pm. Green Quad. Hungry? Wristbands are $12 at the door. Your TCNJ student can “swipe in” (No need to purchase a wristband).  Children under 5 are FREE.

TCNJ Family Barbecue lunch tickets can be purchased for $12pp at Green Lawn on Saturday. If you’ve ordered online please bring your Paypal receipt to the registration table in order to pick up your wristbands for this event. Please note: if your student is on a meal plan he/she does not need a barbecue ticket.

  • Study Abroad Presentation

12:00pm-1:00pm. Library Auditorium. Is your student dreaming of studying abroad? It’s not too early to start planning.

Sponsored by the Center for Global Engagement.

  • Lions’ Cook-Off Award Presentation

1:30pm. 201 BSC. Come applaud the winners and help eat the entries. Students know—there’s nothing like home cooking!

  • Getting to Know the TCNJ Pride Lands

1:00pm-2:30pm. BSC Flagpole Entrance. Compete in this family scavenger hunt. Receive a list of clues. Be the first to visit the locations indicated. Come prepared with a camera phone or digital camera. Prizes will be awarded.  Sponsored by the National Residence Hall Honorary.

  • Homecoming Football GameKean Cougars vs. TCNJ Lions

2:00pm. Lions’ Stadium. Show your Lion’s Pride and enjoy the halftime show. Purchase your tickets at the gate; $6 Adults; $3 Children; students free with TCNJ ID.

  • Catholic Family Mass

5pm. Spiritual Center. Hosted by Catholic Campus Ministries.

Some activities may experience slight changes in time and location. Stop by the Family Weekend Registration Table in the Brower Student Center (1:00pm-6:00pm on 10/19 and 9:00am-1:00pm on 10/20) to pick up an updated schedule upon your arrival.
